New Door to the Future Opens as Kiteezi Gets Digital Hub

A new chapter of hope, learning, and opportunity has begun in Kiteezi with the launch of a modern Digital Hub at the Samaritan Family Life Centre, an initiative of International Samaritan through Kiteezi Samaritan.

Since its launch in August 2025, the Family Life Centre has stood as a place of healing, restoration, and transformation for families living in and around Kiteezi. It has provided psychosocial support, restored dignity, and equipped young people with practical life skills.

Now, it is stepping into the future with the introduction of a Digital Hub that is set to redefine access to knowledge and opportunity for the community.

More than just a room with computers, the Digital Hub is a space where dreams are nurtured, and possibilities are expanded.

It brings together a vibrant library that inspires reading, imagination, and critical thinking, alongside a fully equipped computer section that opens access to digital skills, research, innovation, and global connection.

It is a place where young people can discover new ideas, build confidence, and prepare for a future that increasingly depends on knowledge and technology.

Speaking at the launch, the Country Director of International Samaritan in Uganda; David Kafambe  emphasized the deeper purpose of the Centre, noting that the Family Life Centre is not just a facility, but a safe space for healing, growth, and transformation.

He explained that while the Centre provides practical skilling, it also nurtures emotional well-being and restores hope to families, adding that the Digital Hub now strengthens that mission by preparing children not only to survive, but to thrive and lead.

In a deeply meaningful gesture, the Digital Hub has been named the Pauline Beh Digital Hub, in honour of a woman whose life has quietly but powerfully impacted countless children across the world.

Born in Burma in 1938 at the onset of the Second World War, Pauline’s journey took her across continents, from Asia to the United States, where she built a distinguished career as a physical therapist for over four decades. Yet beyond her profession, she became known for something far greater: her unwavering love for people, her deep faith, and her lifelong commitment to serving others.

It is this spirit that the Kiteezi community and its leaders chose to honour her. They recognized that Pauline’s life reflects the very values the Samaritan Family Life Centre stands for: compassion, service, and the belief that every human life has potential and worth.

Andrew Pawuk, Vice President of International Programs at International Samaritan based in Ann Arbour, USA, spoke with deep admiration during the launch, saying he has known Pauline for 18 years and has travelled with her to many countries.

He described her as someone who truly embodies the heart and spirit of the Good Samaritan, noting that she cares deeply and prays for each individual, and that her life has been one of service to God and to people everywhere.

Local leadership also commended the initiative.

The Wakiso District Community Development Officer, John Kyejjusa, praised the recognition given to Pauline and expressed appreciation to Kiteezi Samaritan for what has been done for the scholars and the wider community.

He expressed hope that more spaces would, in the future, be named after individuals who have made meaningful contributions to transforming lives.

For Pauline herself, the honour came with humility. She expressed surprise at the recognition, describing it as a joy to give and to see children believe in themselves.

She admired the beauty of the library and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be part of such a meaningful initiative.

Perhaps the most powerful voices, however, are those of the young people whose lives will be shaped by this space.

Herbert Migadde, a beneficiary of a holistic scholarship from International Samaritan, expressed his excitement, saying that the Digital Hub will greatly support his studies by providing access to both computers and books.

He described himself as blessed to have such a facility at their centre and expressed deep gratitude to Pauline and the leadership of Kiteezi Samaritan.

In a world where access to technology often determines opportunity, the Pauline Beh Digital Hub stands as a bold and timely investment in the future. It sends a clear message that children in Kiteezi are not forgotten, that they, too, deserve access to knowledge, tools, and opportunities that can transform their lives.

From the turning of pages in the library to the quiet tapping of keys in the computer section, a new rhythm has begun in Kiteezi.

It is the sound of minds opening, of confidence growing, and of a community rising. With this launch, International Samaritan, through Kiteezi Samaritan, has not only built a facility but also opened a gateway to the future.
